The Peterborough Evening Telegraph
Thanks for your kindness
I would like throhgh your columns to express my thanks to the inhabitants of Peterborough for their kindness and consideration.
As a very elderly person, unable to walk very far not carry heavy loads, I use a buggy to get to and around the shops.
I have frequently had pedestrians excusing themselves when they realise I am behind them.
Yet to me it’s their priority - feet before wheels on pavements and in shops.
In shops, I am often asked by fellow shoppers if I need any help - getting things from the shelves, loading and unloading at the checkout. Tesco Metro staff, in Broadway, are also very thoughtful.
In the park every day I greet everyone irrespective of age, race, ethnicity, belief and I am particularly touched when young people beat me to it and call out a cheery ‘hello’ Name and address
