Leave our land alone
Re your article titled ‘Taxpayers may lose out after homes rejected’ (Peterborough Telegraph, November 8).
I attended the meeting and was one of the speakers objecting against the outline planning for the houses on the Stanground local beauty spot Tenter Hill.
Medesham Homes is made up of Peterborough City Council
and Cross Key Homes. I would like to point out that the ‘affordable houses’ which Medesham Homes wish to build would only be four out of 20 houses or up to six out of 30 (information taken from their plans). This leaves a whopping 80 per cent of the properties as not ‘affordable’ - more like luxury properties with fantas-
tic views!
They are not quite so determined to ‘improve the lives of those people affected by homelessness’ as they would like you think!
The land which is proposed was common land which got allocated back around 2012. The Tenter Hill Common Land is used by thousands of locals
and includes the land which over 100 Scouts, Cubs and Beavers use each weekday. The builds would affect the public bridleway – which would be closed for some time – blocking the residents and cyclists on the Green Wheel. Cllr Hiller, who is a board member of Medesham Homes, said if they appealed, that it would costs
people thousands. I have a very simple answer to this – Don’t appeal and save us all thousands of pounds!
We obviously have gigantic builds going on all over Peterborough – in particular Cardea in Stanground and Hampton. Leave our land alone!
