The Peterborough Evening Telegraph
10th anniversary variety show
Stamford’s Corn Exchange Theatre marks its 10th anniversary later this month with a celebratory concert - We Love Variety.
The Corn Exchange Entertainers will be taking to the stage on Friday, November 30, with a show that will feature a little bit of everything.
There is a showcase of new and classic comedy sketches including Monty Python favourites, a junior ballet performance by the talented young dancers of Welland School of Dance, and a hand-picked selection of songs from some of the theatre’s most well-remembered shows and performers from the past 10 years, from Abba to Chas n’ Dave and much more. The second half of the show will have a Christmas flavour, with lots of songs for the audience to join in with, and a special sketch creating the perfect Christmas recipe.
The Phoenix Belles will feature a number from their Christmas Belles’ Burlesque Show which is coming to the Theatre Lounge on December 22.
Judith Mackie, from Stamford Corn Exchange said: “We have had such a busy year with so many shows booked into the Theatre that it’s been difficult to put an anniversary production into our calendar. We are really excited to have pulled this celebration show together in such a short period of time, and this has only been possible because Seann Walsh moved his show date back to March 2019, because his November date was not possible due to him taking part on Strictly Come Dancing.
“Consequently, we have only had eight weeks to get everyone together which has been very challenging”.
Judith added: “Entry is completely free, though we welcome any donation in support of our charity (REGISTERED CHARITY NO. 1092736), to ensure that we can continue to offer a crackin’ programme of shows, gigs and performances for at least another decade!”
