A leading housebuilder based in Peterborough has unveiled plans to create new jobs.

Persimmon Homes East Midlands, based in Commercial Road, Lynch Wood, says it will be recruiting as it increases the number of homes it intends to build.

The details were unveiled as the company, which employs 151 people regionally, released a trading update for the third quarter of the year.

Nick Phillips, director in charge of Persimmon Homes East Midlands, said: “So far, 2018 has been an excellent year for the business in this region.

“We have opened new developments in Huntingdon and Hinchingbrooke and have further plans to bring new homes to the East Midlands in the coming months.

“The business has created jobs at our head office in Peterborough as well as out on site, and there are lots of new opportunities for local suppliers across our region and we remain committed to bringing young people into the business through our apprenticeship and trainee pro- grammes.”

The company expects to achieve 731 fully completed house sales by the end of the year and to build a further 628 homes next year.

Persimmon is also developing its own ultrafast, full fibre broadband service for new home customers.

The new business, called FibreNest, provides a fast broadband service to new customers on 15 sites with plans for a rollout in every region.

Mr Phillips added: “Our our business is committed to supporting the local community through our charity initiatives.”
