Councillors join Labour

Two city councillors have joined the authority’s Labour group. Gunthorpe members Darren Fower and Julia Davidson have boosted Labour’s total to 14 in the 60 seat Conservative-run council. Both members were sitting as independents having previously left the Lib Dems. Cllr Fower has also been a Labour member in the past. Labour group leader Cllr Shaz Nawaz described his party’s new members as “talented, popular and able councillors ”who will be “enormously valuable” to Labour.
