Santa goes to Washington

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - YOUR VIEWS -

Wisbech has many claims to fame. Now our neighbour in the east can add another one – it was responsible for the greatest AA traffic alert ever. It read: ‘Partially blocked and slow traffic due to a large inflatable Santa on road on B198 Cromwell Road both ways in Wisbech.’

Peterborough taxi driver Muhammad Fareed was caught in the traffic jam andhis video went global. He told how he spotted the massive Santa coming loose from a garden (what’s wrong with a few fairy lights draped round a bush?).

The Washington Post’s Fredrick Kunkle, reported: “A giant inflatable Santa got loose and blocked traffic in both directions of a British road, snarling traffic for more than three hours and pleasing grinches everywhere.’’ Santagate! Eat your hearts out Woodward and Bernstein.
