Hat-trick of titles for talented teenager
Ethan Lee was a treble winner at the David Lloyd Club (Thorpe Wood) Club Championship Finals weekend.
The talented teenager won the mens singles, mens doubles and mixed doubles titles at the 10th anniversary event.
Lee beat William Cutworth 6-1, 6-3 in the singles final, racing through the first set before facing stiffer opposition in the second set.
Lee then teamed up with Cutworth to win the doubles final against more experienced pair Ashley Martin and Steve Myers 7-6, 6-4.
A few key points in both sets went the way of the younger pairing against the partnership of Myers and Martin who are regular winners on the local scene.
Lee and Eve Robinson had a walkover in the mixed doubles decider against Laurence Maynard and Suzanne Digby as Maynard suffered an ankle injury the day before the final.
Hermoine Baxter-Chinery won her first ladies singles title beating Emily Creedon 6-1, 6-2. The result of this one was never in doubt thanks to an impressive display from BaxterChinery.
A men’s singles handicap event was won by Sunil Sharma, 6-2, 6-3 over Kamlesh Makwana.
Over 80 members took part in the week-long event held in the last weekend of November.
