History-making Deeping handed a tough tie

-

Deeping Rangers made club history by reaching the fourth round of the FA Vase for the first time...but they need to up their game again to make further progress.

The fourth round draw was kind enough to deliver a home tie, but it is against one of the most in-form teams left in the competition.

Eastwood Community FC are fifth in the East Midlands Combination League, but they have won their last eight competitive games and 17 of their last 18 matches.

The tie will be played at the Haydon Whitham Stadium on January 5 as Deeping maintain their push for honours on four fronts.

Dan Jarvis scored twice in the 4-2 third round home win against Clacton. Dan Schiavi and Michael Simpson also netted.

Michael Goode’s men made progress in the United Counties League Cup with a 1-0 win at Rothwell Corinthians on Tuesday. Luke Hunnings scored the goal that booked a semi-final spot

Deeping are also riding high in third place in the Premier Division ahead of a big game at second-placed Rugby Town on Saturday and they meet Boston Town in the quarter-finals of the Lincs Senior Trophy on Tuesday.

A win for Holbeach United at home to Sleaford last night would have taken the Tigers above Deeping and made partial amends for their 2-0 FA Vase defeat at a tough Godmanchester Rovers side on Saturday.

Peterborough Northern Star hope to snap a threegame losing streak in the top flight when they host Boston Town at the Branch Bros Stadium on Saturday (3pm).
