No surprise as Phantoms sting the Bees once again

-

Phantoms beating Bracknell has become one of the sporting certainties of recent years.

Therefore a handsome home win at Planet Ice last Sunday night won’t have come as much of a surprise, but this result (a 35th success in the last 36 meetings of these two sides) will be memorable for the manner in which it was earned.

Phantoms were briefly behind to an Aidan Doughty effort in the opening period, but they turned the game before the buzzer sounded.

First rising star Jarvis Hunt waltzed through the Bees’ zone to level before Scott Robson forced in a second goal from a James White pass.

A classy individual effort from Bracknell man Ryan Watt restored parity early in the second period but that merely sparked Phantoms into top gear.

Ales Padelek and Martins Susters produced fine efforts less than 90 seconds apart to put the hosts in control and prompt a sudden change of netminder from Bracknell with Dean Skinns hooked in favour of Danny Milton.

The new man fared little better as he was twice beaten by another quick doublesalvo from a by now rampant Phantoms as Susters and Tom Norton struck on powerplays.

Nathan Long completed their bumper haul with a shot from the blue line during a final session in which Shaun Thompson hit a late Bracknell consolation, but this night was all about the classy city side.
