Skating in Crowland

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - YOUR TELEGRAPH -

Local historian Stephen Perry has compiled another of his excellent booklets. It’s his second one featuring many fascinating pictures and stories from Crowland.

The top picture shows the peace celebrations in 1945 in North Street with Speechley’s yard on the right. The next picture shows four generations of the Strickland family ( from left Robert, Maurice, Marshall and Adam) ready to skate. The picture left shows the Granby Head pub in North Street. Stephen told me: “I have for the last 10 years been doing Peterborough Local History talks at the John Clare theatre. I am doing the last one on Wednesday(12) at 2.30pm which will be a reflection on 10 years of talks.’’
