The road to Wembley takes Deeping to Devon

-

Deeping Rangers face a long trip to Devon in their quest for an end-of-season Wembley date.

Deeping marched into the last 16 of the FA Vase with an emphatic 4-0 fourth round win over Eastwood Community at the Haydon Whitham Stadium last Saturday.

Their reward was an away game at Willand Rovers who are based near Exeter and who currently top the Western League.

Deeping are the only United Counties League side left in the competition. Cameron Johnson (2), Dan Schiavi and Scott Mooney scored the goals against Eastwood all in the final 30 minutes of the game.

The fifth round tie at Willand will take place on Saturday, February 2. Deeping need to win three more ties to reach the Wembley Final on May 19.

Deeping beat Leicester Nirvana 2-0 in a Premier Division game on Tuesday to move above local rivals Holbeach into fourth place ahead of a tough trip to Eynesbury Rovers on Saturday. Johnson and Henry Dunn scored the goals.

Holbeach, who won 2-0 at Harborough Town under the caretaker-management of Tim Cole and Adam Jackson last weekend, entertain Wellingborough Town.

Peterborough Northern Star were disappointed to lose 1-0 at lowly Boston Town last weekend. The city side are back at home on Saturday when Desborough Town visit the Branch Bros Stadium.

Martyn Fox grabbed an injury time winner for Blackstones who pipped St Andrews 3-2 in Division One. Bourne were denied victory at bottom club Raunds by a late goal.
