Tomlin is ‘like a kid in the playground’ again

-

Lee Tomlin feels like a kid in the playground again after completing his eagerly anticipated return to the ABAX Stadium this week.

The Peterborough Telegraph revealed last month Tomlin was set to make a shock comeback, but only after Posh and Cardiff officials had worked hard to overcome some contractual snags did the transfer finally happen.

And Tomlin was so excited he couldn’t sleep!

“It took a while to get done, but I’m delighted to be back at Posh,” stated Tomlin, who is 30 on Saturday.

“I was so excited the night before the transfer was due to be finalised I couldn’t sleep.

“I love this club. I was proud and privileged to pIay for them. The reaction of the fans since the news broke I might be coming back has been brilliant.

“I always wanted to come back here, but I did think I would be a bit older than I am.

“I just need to get back to playing again. I need to start enjoying myself because when I’m happy the football looks after itself.

“I’m like a kid in the playground again. I can’t think the people at Cardiff and Posh for making this move happen.

“I’ve already trained with the players and it’s like I’ve never been away apart from the training ground is much better.

“I’m not just back for sentimental reasons though. I want to be successful so hopefully we can kick on in the second half of the season.”

Tomlin was originally signed by Posh from Rushden & Diamonds in August 2010 and helped the club to promotion from League One that season, scoring 11 goals.

He went on to make 156 appearances for Posh, scoring 43 goals before moving to Middlesbrough in January 2014.

He’s also played for Bournemouth, Bristol City and Nottingham Forest. Tomlin has been transferred three times during his career for a total of just under £9 million.

Tomlin starred for Forest in the second-half of the Championship campaign last season, but has not made a single senior appearance for Cardiff this season.

Tomlin was expected to make his second Posh debut in a Checkatrade Trophy tie at Chelsea last night (Wednesday).
