Young Borough boys are going much better than expected

Borough Rugby Club’s first team are certainly exceeding all expectations this season.

Back in September when they kicked off in Midlands Division One, club officials said they’d be satisfied with a topsxi finish.

They were rebuilding the team, mainly with youngsters from within, under new coach Phil Powell and felt a season of consolidation would suffice.

Well after Saturday’s win over Wellingborough, the team find themselves in third place in the standings with five games to go.

And, not only that, they have reached the final of the prestigious East Midlands Cup for the first time since 2010.

Saturday’s legaue game at home to Wellingborough also doubled up as an East Midlands Cup semi-final and Borough won it 30-11 and will now meet either Oundle or holders Bedford Athletic in the final towards the end of the season at Bedford Blues’ Goldington Road ground.
