Insurance giant the BGL Group is looking to recruit a number of new apprentices.

The company, based in Bakewell Road, Orton Southgate, is looking to fill vacancies for its BGL Academy, which is designed to be its pipeline of future talent.

Rachael Gillett, the firm’s chief people officer, said: “The BGL Academy demonstrates the importance we place on developing our talent.

“We set ourselves a very ambitious goal to create 200 Academy roles across the Group by the end of 2018 and I’m thrilled the programme has taken off to such a degree that we surpassed our target two months early and filled more than 150 roles in Peterborough.

“Tapping into the area’s growing community not only creates new job opportunities for local people but boosts BGL’s pool of talent and diverse expertise.

“We are now working to build on the momentum of the Academy’s first-year success by consistently recruiting new talent to fill the spaces of those who have graduated from the academy to roles in the Group.

“I am really looking forward to developing the Academy further over the next 12 months and welcoming our new colleagues.”

BGL launched its Academy a year ago to create a pipeline of future talent and set a target of 200 roles filled by the end of the year. The target was exceeded in October with 208 people signing.

The scheme offers specialised career development in a range of subjects in apprenticeships to graduate programmes.
