Deeping hit leaders for six to set up tasty final
Deeping Rangers set up a mouthwatering United Counties League Cup final against neighbours Holbeach United with a devastating display against Daventry at the Haydon Whitham Stadium on Tuesday night.
Deeping hit the Premier Division leaders for six after a lightning start and a fantastic finish.
Cameron Johnson (2) and Dan Jarvis saw Deeping into a 3-0 half-time lead and after Daventry had fought back to 3-2, substitute Abdourane Sani scored and set up goals for Michael Simpson and Dan Schiavi to complete a 6-2 lead.
Deeping had been well beaten 4-1 by Daventry in a Premier Division game earlier this month.
It was a decent week for Deeping who also moved back into second place in the top flight after coming from behind to beat bottom club Wellingborough Whitworth 3-1 with goals from David Burton-Jones (2) and Scott Mooney last weekend.
Deeping host sixth-placed Cogenhoe United on Saturday. They are nine points behind Daventry with a game in hand.
Peterborough Northern Star try and break a run of 12 Premier Division games without a win at ON Chenecks on Saturday.
Star were beaten 1-0 by lowly Rothwell Corinthians at a blustery Branch Bros Stadium last weekend.
Star are also at home to Pinchbeck United next Tuesday (March 26, 7.45pm kickoff ). Pinchbeck are fifth after crushing ON Chenecks 7-0 last weekend.
Top scorer Ollie Maltby bagged a hat-trick for the Knights who travel to Eynesbury on Saturday.
