City MPs differ over indicative votes as impasse remains
Monday was the second time MPs held indicative votes.
The first occasion was Wednesday evening last week, where none of the eight options being voted on received a majority.
Independent MP for Peterborough Fiona Onasanya voted against no deal and a customs union, but backed the public having a vote on any deal Parliament agrees and ‘common market 2.0’. The latter calls for UK membership of the European Free Trade Association and European Economic Area.
It allows continued participation in the single market and a “comprehensive customs arrangement” with the EU after Brexit, but means the UK would retain freedom of movement.
Conservative MP for North West Cambridgeshire Shailesh Vara supported no deal and was against another public vote.
