It’s grim up north in the bonenumbing cold of Iceland. But fans of this hit Scandi-noir patiently waited three years for Series 2 to arrive on BBC Four. It looks cold enough to make you shiver, but hirsute cop Andri Olafsson (Olafur Darri Olafsson - pictured) can stand it, he’s a big bear of a man. In the first series Andri ended up as acting chief of police when he got stranded at a forsaken snowed-in town while investigating a murder. But he’s called back to Reykjavik the cloud he had been under has lifted - to investigate an attack on a politician which left her badly burned and the would-be killer, her estranged twin brother, dead. So much for brotherly love! It’s a bizarre mystery and the trail of a political conspiracy takes Andri back north and a re-union with Hinrika, who’s now town sheriff. and shambolic detective Asgeir, as the plot thickens. The prime minister is even keeping an unnerving close eye on the investigation, which seems to be linked to the building of a geothermal power plant, a farmers’ protest it will harm their sheep, and a hardright political outfit called Hammer of Thor - but Andri’s just the man to nail them. Buckle up, put your snowshoes on and enjoy the slay ride. Director Baltasar Kormakur made a true story film about which mountain? Entries to Alex Gordon, Trapped competition by April 11.
