‘Ireland’s Billie Holiday’ and Blake at Stamford venue

One of Ireland’s greatest female jazz and blues singers, makes a rare visit to the area next week.

Mary Coughlan - at the Stamford Corn Exchange tomorrow night - is a true artist who has carved out a highly regarded career and a legion of devoted fans worldwide.

Described as “Ireland’s Billie Holiday’” Mary has overcome childhood trauma, alcoholism and drug addiction to become a musical force like no other.

Her seminal first album Tired and Emotional rocketed her to overnight fame in 1985, and fifteen albums later, her ability to deeply connect with both the song and her audience remains undiminish­ed, a testament to her inner strength and to the power of transforma­tion and redemption.

The same venue welcomes Brit-Award winning singers Blake on April 18 with their 2019 tour Movies and Musicals.

With their latest (and seventh) album going straight into the charts at number one, Blake really stand out as Britain’s number one harmony group. For over 10 years they have performed classical, opera and crossover and given them a beautiful unique sound.

This new tour will see them choose music from their favourite movies and musicals and arrange them with their own exclusive harmonies. Songs from all the greats like Morricone, Barry, Bernstein and Bizet will be amongst many that feature. Add to this a beautiful backdrop, incredible choirs and some hilarious stories and it all adds up to the perfect night out.
