Boat builder is on the crest of a wave after awards success
Prestigious accolade for manufacturer just three years after launch
A luxury boat builder which was launched just three years ago looks to be sailing to success.
Fairline Yachts, which employs about 400 people at its Oundle manufacturing hub, has been shortlisted for two international awards.
The boatbuilder’s Fairline’s Squadron 53 has been nominated for the Best Flybridge Yacht (up to 55ft) in the Asia Boating Awards.
Its Targa 43, which made its debut at Cannes Yachting Festival last year, is shortlisted in the Sportscruisers up to 45ft category at Motor Boat & Yachting’s Motor Boat Awards
David Tydeman, Executive Chairman at Fairline Yachts, said: “We’re so pleased two of our models have been shortlisted in these highly prestigious global awards.
“The Asia Boating Awards are a highlight for the region’s yachting industry .
“The Motor Boat Awards are one of the UK’s most highly anticipated boating celebrations.”
He added: “We’re humbled to have received this recognition by the esteemed judging panels and we look forward to attending both award ceremonies.”
The awards shortlisting is the latest in a string of successes for the company since its creation in 2016.
It was built on the assets of the former Fairline Boats, which collapsed into administration in 2015 with the loss of 380 jobs.
Since then Fairline has restored staff numbers to the 2015 level and has expanded its operations with the opening of a £30 million manufacturingcentreinSouthampton. Its boats of less than 60ft are built at Oundle and larger ones on the South Coast.
