Fundraising page for family raises more than £2,600 after two days

-

The public has shown its support for two young children who lost their parents in Sunday morning’s collision.

Jana Kockova and Marko Makula had two children aged two and below whose lives have been shattered by the devastating incident on the Frank Perkins Parkway, which also robbed them of an uncle in Tomas Kocko.

A day after the crash a fundraising page was set up by friend of the family Gabrielle James to try and pay for the funerals and support the family.

It had raised more than £1,000 within 10 hours of being set up, with that figure swelling to more than £2,600 a day later after the Peterborough Telegraph had raised awareness about it.

Gabrielle said: “This senseless act has orphaned two young children and left families and friends heartbroken.

“Therefore I am asking for donations to be made to go towards funeral costs and other expenses to try and relieve some stress for relatives who have had their lives thrown into turmoil.

“The victims were members of the Peterborough community, educated at St John Fisher Catholic High School and Voyager Academy and were loved by many and are missed sorely.

“Therefore I am appealing on behalf of Mario Makula (Marko’s brother) for the community to get together and support these families by donating any amount you can.”

Moreover, the family of Tomas, Jana and Marko have shared a tribute to the trio in Slovakian. Police translated the tribute before making it public. It reads:

Touch of a dying day

Mourning is suddenly spilling through my soul,

However, I have no clue how it got there,

Perhaps only knowledge poured it there,

That you have left, that dying day has touched you.

So I am slowly losing you from my things, the room,

Your energy, the way we have known you to be like,

And I would like to let you know just for short time

That I loved you, that I still like you.

So you move away, but my love flies with you

Up there in the sky where it shines like a star,

So you can still peek with your night eye

Into people’s souls who meant so much to you.
