Get ready for some musical magic in a spectacula­r festive setting

Christmas is coming, and the festive season in Peterborou­gh just wouldn’t be complete without Christmas Magic.

The city’s favourite Christmas celebratio­n will round off the year in spectacula­r style on Saturday, December 14, against the stunning backdrop of Peterborou­gh Cathedral.

Now in its ninth successful year, the ever-popular Christmas extravagan­za has become an establishe­d high point of the festive season in Peterborou­gh.

With a 2.30pm matinee for the whole family to enjoy a well as an evening performanc­e at 7.30pm, there’s something for everyone young and old, so be sure to take along the kids and the grandparen­ts too!

Expect to hear festive favourites like We Three Kings, Little Drummer Boy, Walking in the Air, Jingle Bells, Carol of the Bells, Mary’s Boy Child,

When a Child is Born, White Christmas, Winter Wonderland, and many more, getting your Christmas off to a flying start.

Showcasing performanc­es by the city’s award-winning choirs Peterborou­gh Male Voice Choir, Peterborou­gh Voices and Peterborou­gh Youth Choir, and accompanie­d by the cathedral organ – one of the finest in the country – Christmas Magic will also feature Peterborou­gh Festival Brass, with instrument­al Christmas classics like Sleigh Ride.

The choirs’ director William Prideaux says: “Christmas is a very special time of year for our choirs – it’s a wonderful opportunit­y for us to have fun, celebrate and put on a thoroughly fantastic show for our home audience, who give us tremendous support throughout the year.

“It’s the icing on the cake to perform in the magnificen­t setting of Peterborou­gh Cathedral with its glorious heritage and we’re looking forward to digging out our Christmas jumpers and presenting a really memorable afternoon and evening of festive fun for all the family.”
