Top 10 place for Lunn as 8,000 take to Paris streets

Helpston runners enjoyed success both at home and abroad over the weekend, and second claim member Josh Lunn clocked 1:05.08 for 10th place out of over 8,000 competitor­s in the Boulogne-Billancour­t Half Marathon held in Paris.

Lunn’s pace judgement was exceptiona­l, with only a 22 second range between his four 5km splits.

Helpston’s John Uff

• finished fourth in the Long Sutton 10km in 34:37.3. Team-mate Shelly Duffy was third in the ladies race with a 39:03.8 clocking.

Jim Morris ran 36:25.2. Astonishin­gly, the 54-yearold Helpston Harrier was only the fourth over 50 home, although he did pick up the prize for the best age graded performanc­e.

Bretton chip shop owner Rob Brownlee, who runs for Corby AC, finished seventh in 35:22.4. Peterborou­gh Nene Valley’s Elizabeth Sennit-Clough finished fourth lady and first over 45 with a 41:57.4 clocking.

Deidre Fee of Werrington Joggers was the winning over 55 in 52:40.7.

•★e•psto■’s Jonathan Taylor was runner-up in the Rutland Water night time 10km in 37:59. Kerry Balmer of Yaxley was first lady in a time of 46:08.

•Phi• Martin of Peterborou­gh Nene Valley ran marathon number nine of 2019 at Snetterton motor racing circuit on Sunday and was runner-up in 2:40.57. Martin has vowed to complete 12 marathons this year, and is raising funds for the mental health charity Mind.

The Orton based marathon-man is playing catch up after a foot operation in the summer nearly hamstrung his plans, but with just three marathons left to run the end is now in sight.
