STREAMING Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings Netflix, from Friday

As one of the world’s bestloved singer-songwriters, Dolly Parton has spent decades belting out a string of foot-tappers and tearjerkers. But what inspired some of those classic tunes? Now’s the chance to find out with a new series of dramas revealing their backstory. It begins with Jolene, in which Julianne Hough, Kimberly WilliamsPaisley and Dallas Roberts breathe life into the 1973 top 10 UK smash penned by Ms Parton. (Apparently, it was inspired by a bank clerk who flirted with her husband Carl Dean at his local bank branch). Other dramatised tracks include These Old Bones (with Kathleen Turner); If I Had Wings, and Two Doors Down (featuring Melissa Leo, who you may remember won an Oscar for The Fighter).

FILM Happy Feet

5STAR, 4.45pm, Saturday

Elijah Wood, Robin Williams and Nicole Kidman (above) are just some of the stars providing the voices in this feelgood, computeranimated musical comedy about a misfit’s quest to find his place in the world. In a colony of emperor penguins, where singing is the only way to find true love, a tonedeaf youngster called Mumble is ostracised for his lack of vocal talent. His only skill is for tap-dancing, which only emphasises how different he is to the rest of the penguins, leaving him an outcast in a harsh, unforgiving environment. The story of young Mumble’s quest to fit in will warm the cockles of your heart, interspersed with some funky musical interludes.
