FIVE THINGS FOR YOUR WEEK...
STREAMING
White Lines Netflix, from Friday
A Spanish-British coproduction, this 10-part crime drama set on Ibiza has a fine pedigree. It was created by Alex Pina, the driving force behind Netflix’s Money Heist, and has been made by the team behind The Crown. Laura Haddock, who was last seen in The Capture, takes the lead role of Zoe Walker, who wants to find out exactly what happened to her brother, legendary DJ Axl. He had been missing for 20 years before his body was found on the island, and her very personal investigation leads her into a dark world of sex, drugs and dance clubs. Along the way, she confronts aspects of her own character while learning more about her brother and his friends. Daniel Mays, Laurence Fox, Angela Griffin and Nuno Lopez co-star.

FILM
Darkest Hour BBC One, 7.30pm, Saturday
On May 9, 1940, Clement Attlee (David Schofield), leader of the opposition Labour Party, demands Neville Chamberlain (Ronald Pickup) stands down as prime minister. King George VI (Ben Mendelsohn) subsequently invites Winston Churchill (Gary Oldman) to form a government at a critical juncture in the fight against Hitler. Foreign secretary Lord Halifax (Stephen Dillane) spearheads senior figures within the Conservative ranks, who expect Churchill to agree to talks with the Germans - but they are gravely mistaken. Darkest Hour is a handsomely-crafted character study, which elegantly dramatises the 27 tumultuous days that led to Churchill’s impassioned cry for the British to fight on the beaches. Concealed behind layers of make-up and latex, Oscar-winner Oldman conjures a mesmerising embodiment of the statesman.

Top Gear: Ambitious but Rubbish Dave, 4pm & 5pm, Saturday
Although the latest Paddy McGuinness and Freddie Flintoff incarnation is enjoyable enough, it’s still not a patch on the Top Gear of old. Here, former host Richard Hammond looks back through the archives at some memorable moments of ineptitude from himself, Jeremy Clarkson and James May. In the first episode, the trio attempt to create a convertible people carrier from a Renault Espace, before James tries to drive up an Icelandic volcano. Then, Richard relives their efforts to cross the English Channel in home-made amphibious cars.
