MURDER PROBE AFTER PARK ROAD DEATH
Man in his 60s dead, police arrest 34-year-old
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man died at a home in Peterborough.
Emergency services were called to the address in Park Road, near Peterborough city centre at about 4.45pm on Monday following reports of a ‘disturbance’ taking place at the property.
Officers and paramedics attended but despite their best efforts a police spokesman said a man, who was aged in his 60s, died at the scene.
A cause of death has not yet been revealed by police.
A 34-year-old man from Peterborough was arrested by police at the property on suspicion of murder.
He was taken to Thorpe Wood Police Station for questioning, and remained in police custody at the time of going to press.
The man who died has not yet been formally identified by police.
A post mortem was set to take place at Peterborough City Hospital yesterday (Wednesday) to establish the cause of death.
A police cordon was still in place at the scene yesterday, two days after emergency services were originally called, with an officer standing guard outside the home where the incident took place while investigations continued to take place at the property.
A Cambridgeshire police spokesman described the disturbance as ‘an isolated incident.’
Witnesses, or anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Cambridgeshire police on 101, or independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, by calling 0800 555 111.
