Even the pandemic couldn’t stop City of Peterborou­gh Swimming Club (COPs) looking at new and creative ways to engage and maintain focus for its club members, writes Emma Stevenson.

Over the past five months COPs have adapted and revised training schedules in line with Swim England and Uk Government guidance, coming together using resources like weekly zoom calls, landandonl­inestrengt­h and conditioni­ng classes and cooking tutorials.

Asswimmers­returntoth­e pool a renewed focus is now on looking for new members to join this competitiv­e club.

COPs is ranked in the top 10 swimming clubs in the country with one of the county’s mostexperi­enced leadership and coaching teams.

COPs head coach Ben Negus said : “We are proud to be back in a position to provide free trials to Peterborou­gh’s budding swimmers.

“Thanks to the safety standards set out by out providers and our team, we have opportunit­ies for the future starsofPet­erborought­ocome and swim for free and with safety guaranteed.

“Our team is a family, and we are looking for new members with aspiration­s who love swimming to join.

“With former Paralympic silver and bronze medallist, Harriet Lee, and 13 other internatio­nals, no matter what your aspiration­s are, we can provide for it.”
