Panthers make light lof losses to win handsomely on the road again

-

Not even three injury and illness absentees could stop Panthers storming to another four-point success on the road at Foxhall.

Erik Riss, Leon Flint and Thomas Jorgensen were the men to step in for Bjarne Pedersen, Jordan Palin and Ulrich Ostergaard and all contributed to a 16-point win on the road.

But Hans Andersen again stole the show from the reserve position, posting a 15 plus two point return and he had fine support from Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris who carded 19 points between them.

It was an even start to the meeting with a couple of early shared heats, but Panthers took a stranglehold from heat 4 with a 5-1 courtesy of Andersen and Harris.

That was followed up by a succession of maximum heat wins including fine race victories from Nicholls and Riss.

Panthers then thwarted the Ipswich tactical card as Harris took the win with tactical man Danny King beaten for the first time in the meeting.

Both teams then exchanged 5-1 advantages before King won the last heat of the season at Foxhall with Nicholls and Harris packing the minor places.

It was a convincing victory to the delight of team boss Rob Lyon.

Lyon said: “We spoke on the track walk before the meeting and it was all about getting the four points on offer, and that’s what we did.

“We picked some good guests. Thomas Jorgensen was a little unlucky, Erik Riss did a great job and Leon Flint did what he does and rode his heart out.”

Panthers started the night with a 13-point gap to make up on Premiership leaders Wolverhampton from their four meetings in hand.

But nothing seems to disturb these experienced and talented riders, even when half of the regular line-up is missing.
