Ismaael and Baxter turn on the style as Police boxers impress at Chatteris

-

Peterborough Police Amateur Boxing Club were in action on the Fenland Sparta ABC Show at the Cromwell Community School in Chatteris on Saturday night.

It was a great night for 14-year-old Mohammed Ismaael from Peterborough, who was up against Remi Clark from the famous Finchley ABC club that produced Anthony Joshua, at 52kg.

Ismaael dominated from the first bell with strong powerful long shots which continued throughout the next few rounds.

In the final round Ismaael overpowered his opponent which forced the referee to stop the fight.

This was a quality power win from Ismaael who is always improving.

Billy Joe Baxter from PPABC was involved in the fight of the night as he secured a a very slick and skilful points win over Malachii Flowerdew from the Progress ABC in Norfolk.

This really was a great performance for 17-year-old Billy over three three-minutes rounds.

Baxter dominated the pace and always came off better with the inside combinations.

This was a nice confidence booster moving onto the English title belt for Baxter at 75kg in Rotherham next Saturday.

Other club members were also in action but slightly fell short all on very close points decisions, some of which were quite questionable.

Nevertheless there was some quality skills on show in some superb crowd pleasing fights involving 13-year-old Ewan Davies, 18year-old Hannah-May Anderson, 19-year-old Jaan’sher Raja and 22-year-old Imran Aref, who are all from Peterborough.

The boxers did themselves and the club proud, said a clun spokesman.

Massive thanks has to go to club coaches Tony Rob and Dean Baxter for doing the corners.

Also, a massive thankyou to all the club sponsors for their support in helping these young boxers achieve their dreams.

The sponsors are Signature Suites, The Pizza House, Hearty’s of Peterborough, Barmach Ltd and The Brightfield Group.
