Phantoms aim to end season on a high
Peterborough Phantoms wrap up their regular National League season this weekend with another double header and will be aiming to go into the play-offs in winning form.
Phantoms are on the road on Saturday when they travel to second-placed Swindon Wildcats (6.15pm), before finishing their campaign at Planet Ice Peterborough on Sunday against the rock-bottom Raiders (5.30pm).
The Peterborough side go into the weekend in great spirits after an impressive double success last Saturday and Sunday.
First up, the Phantoms travelled to West Yorkshire and beat Leeds Knights 5-2, before returning home on
Sunday and seeing off local rivals MK Ligtening 6-2.
Against Knights, Ales Padelek opened the scoring for Phantoms in the fifth minute and that was how it stayed going into the first break.
On 27 minutes Leeds levelled through Adam Barnes, but Padelek quickly restored the Peterborough lead and they were 3-1 up on 30minutesthankstoNathan Salem.
Knights again pulled one back to make it 3-2 on 35 minutes, but Phantoms made it 4-2 in the 49th minute through Petr Stepanek.
Knights pressed to get back in the game, but it was the Phantoms who sealed the deal in the 58th minute with another Salem strike.
The following day, Lightning were totally dominated.
Glenn Billing got the Phantoms off to the best possible start after seven minutes, but MK hit back to quickly equalise.
On 20 minutes Phantoms regained the lead through a Duncan Spiers goal, before strikes from Jasper Foster, Srepanek and Jarvis Hunt had the Phantoms cruising at 5-1 up.
MK did hit back with a 42nd-minute strike, but the Phantoms’ fourgoal advantage was swiftly restored as Speirs scored his second of the night to complete the scoring at 6-2.
