Peterborough Sports boss Jimmy Dean was left having ‘nightmares’ after witnessing his side’s finishing against Bromsgrove Sporting on Tuesday (March 29).

Sports missed the chance to move up to third in the Southern League Premier Division Central after they squandered a two-goal lead at home to their 18th-placed opponents.

Josh McCammon had scored an audacious flick and Luke Warner-Eley smashed in a 25-yard free-kick to put Sports clear but Bromsgrove fought back in the second half to level with their own stunning free-kick in the 87th minute but Dean felt his side should have killed the game off long before then.

He said: “I was distraught when I woke up. They probably deserved the point in the end, but the game should have been dead long before then.

“Jordan Macleod, Mark Jones and Josh Moreman have all had chances they had to score, Josh has just caught his too true and it’s given me nightmares.”

The result took the shine off Saturday’s (March 26) victory at home to St Ives. Lamine Kaba Sherif and Mark Jones scored the goals in a performance that delighted Dean.

He said: “It’s an opportunity missed and I’m really annoyed because we played really well on Saturday. I really enjoyed watching the performance, we got the wing backs going and I saw everything I associate with my teams.”

Sports were dealt a blow in that match when Dion Sembie-Ferris limped from the field, having only just come back from injury, and could now be out for a few weeks.

He could now miss the trips to Royston, who won 5-0 in cup action on Tuesday, and Rushall Olympic.

Dean added: “We are really struggling to build any momentum that comes from playing a settled team every week.

“It feels like we are getting kicked over and over again. I’ve got Gash, Maniche, Jordan Nicholson and Dion all out and that’s the forward line we went into the season with.

Sports now trail thirdplaced Rushall by a point with a game in hand. There is a strong possibility the game could serve as a dress rehearsal for a meeting in the end of season play offs.

“It feels like are being kicked over and over again.”
