It will be one long revenge mission for Peterborough RUFC until the end of the Regional East Midlands 2 League season.

Borough avenged one defeat from earlier in the season in style last weekend when thrashing Northampton Old Scouts 41-5 at Fengate to make it six wins out of six in 2023.

And the city club’s four remaining games are against teams that beat them in the reverse fixture starting with a home game against third from bottom Leighton Buzzard on Saturday (2pm).

"I was really pleased with the Old Scouts result especially after we played so poorly against them earlier in the season,” Borough coach Shane Manning said.

"We lost a couple of lads to injury during the game, but those who came on did a fantastic job.

"Our last four league games are all against teams who have beaten us this season so we have to keep improving to make sure we finish the season in style.

"Leighton Buzzard are next up and we played possibly our worst game of the season against them back in November so the lads should be keen to put that right".

Two tries from Ross Chamberlain and one apiece from Ryan Morris and Ian Williams gave fifth-placed Borough a 24-5 half-time lead

against an Old Scouts team who sit one spot above them in the table.

Doyle Gordon, Robert Moulds and Chris Sykes added second-half tries to round off the most dominant Borough performance of the season.

Bottom club Peterborough Lions claimed just a second league win of the season, 22-18 over Newbold-on-Avon at Bretton Park.

Lions’ try scorers were Chris Diamond, Matthew Worrall-Clare, Jack Lewis and Charles Pendlebury as

they improved to -1 point for the season.

Lions are at Kettering on Saturday.

Oundle lost a Midlands Division One thriller to the last kick of the game at home to league leaders Dudley Kingwinsford.

Harry Winch, Darren Fox, Vernon Horne and Luke Sharpley scored tries for ninth-placed Oundle who went down 25-22.

Oundle host eighthplaced Broadstreet at Occupation Road on Saturday (2pm).
