City stars were up to the challenge
A PANVAC contingent helped the Eastern Masters representative team to victory in the British Masters Indoor Area Challenge at Lee Valley
Max Hall earned the runners-up spot in the over 40s high jump, long jump and shot, while Dave Brown was third in the over 40s 400m.
Tim Clough placed third in the two kilometre walk, but there was huge frustration for his wife Elisabeth SennitClough in the 3,000m.
With some runners lapping others on the 200m indoor track, the race descended into chaos with confusion reigning when the officials lost count of how many laps some athletes had completed.
Sennit-Clough heard the bell on what she thought was her final lap, but after having stopped for a good 30 seconds she was told she still had one lap left.
Other runners found themselves in a similar position, and eventually the race was declared null and void.
**PANVAC thrower Kevin Bates won over 70 shot put silver in the British Masters Winter Throws Championship staged at Horspath in Oxfordshire at the weekend. Bates threw a distance of 10.14m to secure his medal.
**Helpston's Ruth Jones took part in the Trafford 10k.
It was her first 10km race for nearly two years, and she had a pleasing run through the Greater Manchester countryside crossing the line as fourth over 40 lady in a time of 38.29.
Former King’s school pupil Josh Lunn is now based in South Wales and, although he runs for Cardiff AC, he retains connections with Helpston.
He competed in the Rome Half Marathon, finishing 16th in a speedy 65:35.26.
