Brett bowls well, big darts shock!

Local bowler Nicky Brett skipped his Huntingdon rink to the semi-finals of the English Indoor Fours Championsh­ips at Nottingham.

They defeated Barking 1914 and Solihull 18-13 before losing 18-6 to the eventual winners from Torquay United, skipped by Jamie Walker, in the last four.

Brett teamed up with Lewis Baker, David Attwood and Andy Ware.

Meanwhile, the Stamford pair of Elizabeth Wallace and Chris Ford were beaten in the quarter-finals of the over 60 pairs, 20-15 by Egham after a 16-15 win over Folkestone.

DARTS

Runaway leaders GPO A lost for the first time this season, in their 19th match, 5-2 at second-placed Parkway.

The Posties still hold an eight-point lead at the top.

CRICKET

There are a couple of local league games scheduled to take place this Saturday.

Market Deeping seconds are due to travel to Woodhall Spa seconds in Division One in the South Lincs League, while Orton Park thirds are supposed to be at home to Boston thirds in Division Three (1pm).

The scheduled Rutland Division Three match between United Sports and Bourne at Hampton CC on Sunday has already been postponed.

The Lincs Premier Division which includes Bourne, Long Sutton, Market Deeping and Spalding starts on April 20, as does the Cambs League with Division One games for Wisbech and Ramsey.

The Northants League starts on April 27 when Peterborou­gh Town and Oundle Town will be in Premier Division action.

The Hunts League is also due to start on April 27.
