Dream comes true, but more wanted

- By Ben Jones ben.jones@nationalworld.com

A dream came true for Posh striker Ricky-Jade Jones... and now he’s hungry for more.

Jones and his fellow Academy graduate Harrison Burrowshaveoftenspokenabout playing together for Posh at Wembley, something they’ve now accomplished relatively early in their careers.

But winners medals from a 2-1 EFL Trophy Final win over Wycombe Wanderers have not satisfied any appetites. It’s just given them the taste for more glory, which could even come with a return visit to the national stadium in the League One play-off final in May 18.

"We’re hungry for more,” Jones (21) said. “Once you experience what we did at Wembley, you want that all time, and now we will strive for more.

"We’ve still got League One games to play and we’ve been pushing for an automatic promotion spot, but if we can’t get that there’s another chance to play at Wembley.

"I’ve often spoken with Harrison and we’ve said it would great to play at Wembley together so that’s a dream that’s come true already.”

Jones played 80 minutes at Wembley and came close

to scoring just before he was substituted, but instead his great mate stole the show with two goals, including a remarkable added time winner.

"I can’t think of a better ending for the game,” Jones added. “I’ve played with Harrison since he was nine, and

we’ve come through the age groups together, and now he’s stuck the ball in the top corner at Wembley from how far out?

"Harrison has a wand of a left foot. I’ve seen him get goal after goal for years now, but this goal might have be the best one I’ve seen so far.

Anything can happen when he gets it onto his left foot as he showed.

"We got a feel for the game in the first 20 minutes, but after that we started to play our football.

“We spoke at the break about just keep playing how we’re playing and we will create chances because we create so many chances as a team and we continued to show our quality in the second-half.

“My eyes lit up when I had a chance after 70 minutes, but it was a good block and Harrison is the one who stole the headlines.”
