Spalding seal title in stunning style
Spalding United clinched the Northern Premier Midlands Division title in stunning style.
The Tulips needed to beat Coleshill Town at the Sir Halley Stewart Stadium in their final fixture to be sure of finishing as champions and they didn’t mess about winning 8-0 in front of a superb crowd of 1,708. as the decision to offer free admission worked a treat.
It meant Spalding won their final two games – with a title on the line – by a remarkable aggregate of 15-1!

Spalding finished a point clear at the top from Anstey Nomads after winning 28 and losing five of their 38 matches.
They were helped into top spot by a six-point deduction for third place finishers Harborough Town for fielding a player, former Peterborough Sports midfielder Connor Kennedy, while suspended.
Without the deduction Harborough would have won the league by two points.
There’s a good chance Spalding could now renew rivalries with Stamford AFC next season after ‘The Daniels’ failed in their bid to reach the Southern League Premier Division Central
play-offs.
Stamford needed to win at rivals Mickleover last weekend and see a favourable result elsewhere, but neither happened.
Graham Drury’s men lost 3-0 and finished seventh, an excellent effort after a promotion last season.
Yaxley, who are merging with Peterborough League side Peterborough City for next season, finished seventh in Premier Division South of the United Counties League after losing their final game
3-2 at Easington Sports.
Top scorer Matthew Harris-Hercules and Oleksandr Muzychuk scored for the Cuckoos.
And in Division One champions Bourne Town finished with 35 wins in 40 games after a final day 3-1 success at Clifton All Whites.
Bourne finished 14 points clear at the top. Dan Allen, Zak Munton and James HillSeekings (penalty) scored for the Wakes at Clifton.
In Division One North of the Thurlow Nunn League FC
Peterborough beat AFC Sudbury Reserves 5-2.
Abulai Sanha (2), Vitor Vaz, Mario Neves and Adam Mahmood scored for the city side who are 13th in their first season at the level with one game to go, which was due to place on Wednesday evening.
FC Parson Drove finished 14th after a 4-1 Saturday defeat at Leiston U23s, while Holbeach United and Whittlesey Athletic finished sixth and 16th respectively having completed their matches a week earlier.
