Lost and found: Oversights blamed on pace of life
Two dogs, a suitcase of Aberdeen FC memorabilia anda collection of women’s wigs were some of the items bizarrely left behind in hotel rooms last year.
Visitors staying at one of Aberdeen’s four Travelodge’s left an array of items after checking out – topped by a pair of Yorkshire terriers.
The dogs, called Penelope and Douglas, were left at theAberdeenCentralhotel for 90 minutes before their owner rushed back to pick them up.
Staff at the hotel also found a large suitcase filled with Dons memorabilia, a pop-up bird decoying photography tent and a set of dentures, which included a couple of gold teeth.
Important documents from Offshore Europe and a collection of expensive fishing rods were found at the Justice Mill Lane branch, while at Bucksburn staff d i sc o vered a m a n h ad fo rgotten his collection of women’s wigs.
Guests staying at an airport Travelodge have also proved forgetful – with one couple even failing to pick up their flight tickets. A suitcase of designer clothing, a set of golf clubs and a real minkfur coat were also left behind last year.
S h a k i l a Ahmed, a spokeswoman for the budget hotel chain, said: “Each year o u r lost and f ound inventory report provides plenty of revelations. “Our 2013 left-behind register also reveals how much smart technology has become a part of our everyday lives, as we have had nearly 10,000 tablets and smartphones left behind in our hotels in the last 12 months.
“What is becoming evident after speaking to our customers is that the pace of life has become so fast and we are so eager to get from A to B that valuable possessions are easily being forgotten.”
Across the UK, other unusual items left behind last year included deeds to a £2million house, a £5,000 Vera Wang wedding dress, a set of 24-carat gold Indian Gods and a pet tarantula called Hercules.
Among the 10 most commonly forgotten items are chargers, mobile phones, books, IT equipment, teddy bears and toiletries.
