At least 27 dead after bus plunges into gorge

At least 27 people have died after a bus collided with a truck and plunged into a 400ft deep gorge in west- ern India. Police said the driver lost control of the bus after it collided with a truck near Malshej Ghat, a tourist spot about 100 miles north-east of Mumbai.

Police officer Raghunath Yadav initially reported 11 dead but the toll has since risen to 27. He said 10 others were injured, seven of them seriously.
