Pupils raise thousands to beat accountants
Pupils at Hazlehead Primary School in Aberdeen have outperformed a team of Granite City accountants in raising money for charity.
The challenge was to turn just £1 of seed capital into as much cash as possible within a month.
While the team from accountancy firm Anderson Anderson and Brown (AAB) raised £5,200, the primary school’s budding young entrepreneurs collected £6,000.
All of the money raised goes to the Wildhearts’ Micro-Tyco project, which provides loans to people in developing countries.
AAB’s team held various fundraising events, includ- ing a successful quiz night and soup kitchen.
The Hazlehead pupils washed cars, packed supermarket bags, held a dressing-up day and organising a Touch of Tartan night.
AAB human resources director Karen Stewart said: “The school pupils fairly put us through our paces in the fund raising challenge and you can be assured that our staff learned as much from the whole experience as their primary school partners.”
