Witness sees redemption
Witness In Court was a disappointment on his fencing bow but should be given the chance to redeem himself i n the 32Red Novices Chase at Musselburgh.
A winner over hurdles, he was expected to take the step up to chasing in his stride at Kelso in October, particularly as he had previously won in point-topoint company.
However, he never really looked happy in setting the pace and was eventually pulled up three fences from home in a race won by subsequent Grade 1 runner-up Green Flag.
Something was clearly amiss but, given plenty of time to recover from those exertions, Witness In
Court could still prove a useful tool.
The valuable Kilmany Cup has cut up pretty badly and now looks a good op- portunity for Lucinda Russell’s Kris Cross to follow up his Ascot success, despite a 7lb rise.
Only just seven, stamina won him the day down south so any more rain would not be a disadvantage against some exposed rivals.
Star Links was possibly
a bit unlucky at Wolverhampton last time out but compensation awaits in the Ladbrokes Handicap back at that track.
