County set for double swoop

- BY STEPHEN KASIEWICZ

Ross County are poised to add Greek defender Evangelos Oikonomou and Slovakian midfielder Filip Kiss to their squad after attacker Orhan Mustafi left Victoria Park yesterday.

Manchester City goalkeeper Eirik Johansen will not be moving to Dingwall on loan but Staggies manager Derek Adams has not ruled out free agent Garry Kenneth, t he f ormer Dundee United defender, who spent time training with County last month.

Oikonomou, who enjoyed six successful months with County last term, and Cardiff City player Kiss could be in the squad to face St Johnstone at Dingwall tomorrow. Mustafi has returned to Grasshopper Zurich in Switzerland after scoring once in his eight games after a loan move in August.

Adams will continue to look for new players in the transfer window, with onloan Blackburn Rovers attacker Jordan Slew making an immediate impact in County’s 2-1 derby win against Caley Thistle.

He said:“We are trying to bring players in. We are awaiting clearance for Evangelos Oikonomou and we are hopeful we can get Filip Kiss sorted out as well. They will be two very good signings for us. It is difficult regarding Kiss but we are working with club officials at Cardiff City.”
