Dallas thinks half the world of Kings

-

Martin Dallas has flown in from New Zealand to rejoin Kingussie after a three-year absence in a major tonic for the Dell club on the eve of the new Marine Harvest Premiership season. In 2011 Dallas scored four goals in the Sutherland Cup final then played in the Camanachd Cup final when Kingussie lost to Newtonmore. By the time Kings won the Camanachd in 2014, he had departed to New Zealand. The skilful forward is still only 25 and new manager Dallas Young is delighted he has been able to persuade him to join a young Kingussie squad which has lost experienced campaigners. “He’s a terrific addition to our squad,” said Young. “When I heard of Martin’s return I knew it would be a great boost if he would make a comeback. “We held discussions and Martin has agreed to play. “He’s naturally fit and has no weight issues, but he’ll need a bit of time to reach match sharpness. “The Premiership opener at Glasgow Mid Argyll may be a bit too soon for him, but hopefully he’ll be involved sooner rather than later.” Dallas had a training session on Saturday but did not feature in Kingussie’s 4-0 win against Skye in a fixture switched to the Dell as the Portree pitch was among those waterlogged. James Falconer scored a double with Roddy Young and Chris Hollysong was also on target. “It was an outstanding performance,” said the manager. “The downside was Ryan Borthwick came off with a muscle strain after five minutes while Savio Genini lasted only 20 minutes, also with a muscle problem. “We’ll just have to wait and see what their chances are of facing Mid Argyll. But the display was an encouraging way to set us up.”
