North school pupils safe

A group of Inverness schoolchildren were “all safe and well” last night after receiving a guided tour of the Houses of Parliament just a day before the terror attack.

The 14 youngsters from Kinmylies Primary School and three adults had been on a two-day visit to London for the WE Day youth event at Wembley Arena.

After arriving on Tuesday they were given a tour of the Palace of Westminster by local MP Drew Hendry and his colleague, Western Isles representative Angus MacNeil.

Yesterday afternoon, the school used social media to reassure parents that they had not been caught up in the incident at parliament and were safely on their way to Gatwick Airport to travel back up north.

“Fab time at WE day. On route to Gatwick. All safe and well,” the statement said.
