A newly-wed from the north-east has been named as the victim of a horrific car crash in Deeside.

Kieran Ross, from Peterculter, died on Sunday after his car left the A93 Braemar to Ballater road and crashed into a tree.

Emergency services raced to the scene, near Inver Lodge, but could not save the 30-year-old.

Mr Ross, who only got married last summer, previously lived in Elgin before moving to Aberdeen.

One former colleague described him as “fun-loving” and said she had many fond memories of working with him.

In a post online, Karen Millar wrote: “Such a funloving boy, many memories with Kieran. Thoughts (are) with his mum and dad and his poor wife.”

Another friend, Yvonne Tyson, posted: “So, so sad – Kieran had a heart of gold, such a lovely guy. RIP. Another life taken too soon.”

Lower Deeside councillor Tauqeer Malik also expressed condolences at the news and said he knew of Mr Ross, before adding: “I feel very sad for his family. My thoughts are with them at this terrible time. I am sure the whole of the village will be shocked to hear about his loss.”

Sergeant David Pirie, from the roads policing unit, renewed his appeal for anyone who saw Mr Ross’s red Seat Ibiza before the crash, which happened at 1am, to come forward.

He said: “Our thoughts at this difficult time are with Kieran’s family and friends.

“Our investigation to establish the full circumstances is ongoing and I would urge anyone who saw Kieran’s vehicle prior to the collision to come forward and speak to us.”

The road was closed for about nine hours while collision investigators examined the scene.

Anyone with information should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
