Fast Fords rev up for Goodwood

Ford’s GT and Mustang GT4 cars will make their UK dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which takes place from June 30 to July 2.

The GT, which is the American manufactur­er’s latest supercar, will be piloted by Ford Chip Ganassi Racing drivers

Honda has revealed pricing for its nextgenera­tion Civic Type R. Set to hit forecourts next month, the new 316bhp hot hatch will cost from £30,995 – £795 more than the car it replaces.

Higher specificat­ion GT models will command an additional £2,000 premium – but will feature a wider variety of extra equipment. Those choosing GT cars will benefit from dual-zone climate control, LED front fog lights and full Garmin satnav, among other features.

Honda received around Andy Priaulx and Harry Tincknell as it takes on the challengin­g 1.16-mile course.

Though the race-ready version of the GT went up the Hill last year, this is the first time that a road version will have tackled the route.

The Ford Mustang GT4 60 orders prior to this pricing announceme­nt, and the company predicts sales of about 1,000 cars a year.

The Civic Type R was first unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, and has been extensivel­y developed to provide the most invigorati­ng drive possible. Powered by a 2.0-litre VTEC turbocharg­ed petrol engine, its 316bhp is accompanie­d by 295lb/ft of torque.

Power is driven to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox with a rev matching system ensuring that each shift is seamless. meanwhile, which was first revealed at the 2016 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, will be driven by Billy Johnson – a teammate of Priaulx and Tincknell. The GT4 utilises a 5.2-litre V8 engine as well as a range of spoilers and splitters to make it as effective on the track as possible.
