Crash victim dad named – as doctors treat his son
Tragedy: Family tribute to ‘beloved son, brother, dad and boyfriend’
The man who was killed in a horrific car crash in Moray has been named as the father of a toddler who remains in a serious condition after the crash.
Yesterday Dameon MacPhee, from Buckie, was described by his family as a “beloved son and dad”.
The 23-year-old was a passenger in a Vauxhall Astra on the A96 Aberdeen to Inverness road near Elgin with his two-year-old.
Mr MacPhee, a former pupil of Buckie High School, died at the scene.
Last night his son was in a serious condition after being transferred from Dr Gray’s in Elgin to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Aberdeen.
In a statement Mr MacPhee’s family spoke of Mr MacPhee as: “A beloved, son, brother, dad and loving boyfriend of Laura.
“Forever in our hearts, gone but never forgotten. He’s now in the arms of his grandad.”
Yesterday police confirmed the toddler’s injuries remained serious, but added he was in a “stable” condition following Wednesday’s two-car crash.
The young boy’s mother, who was driving the car, was taken to Dr Gray’s with minor injuries and has now been allowed to leave.
Another 23-year-old female, who was a passenger, remains in hospital in Aberdeen with serious injuries.
Witnesses reported members of the public rushing to the two vehicles that were involved in the crash in an attempt to save the lives of the people inside.
Concerned motorists performed resuscitation at the roadside until emer- gency services arrived a short time later.
A 66-year-old man, who was driving a Volkswagen Golf, the other car involved, was discharged from Dr Gray’s after sustaining minor injuries.
Last night police renewed their appeal for witnesses who saw the crash at about 10am on the A96 between Elgin and Lhanbryde.
Sergeant Steve Manson said: “Our thoughts are with all of those affected by the collision.
“Inquiries into the incident remain ongoing and anyone with information who hasn’t yet spoken to officers should call the police.”
