Stewart sets new personal best at parkrun

Teenager Clare Stewart (Banchory Stonehaven AC), who will represent Scotland in a cross-country match at Liverpool, was first woman and second overall in the Stonehaven parkrun 5km.

Graeme Gardner was first in 19:40, while Stewart set her fastest time for the Mineral well Park course when finishing 3sec behind.

Emma Swanson (Banchory Stonehaven AC), another promising northeast youngster, was third in 21:20 with Ross Mungavin fourth in 22:15.

Emma Creamer (Banchory Stonehaven AC) was third in the women’s division of the run in a personal best 23:37.

• Former Aberdeen AAC runner Mark Haskett (Corstorphi­ne AAC) led the first three finishers to personal best Elgin parkrun 5km times.

Louise Smith ( Edinburgh Road Club) was first woman in 21:43, followed by Gillian Grant in 22:04 and Elspeth Jenkins (Moray Road Runners) in 23:12.

• David Langan was first home in the Aberdeen parkrun 5km in 17:06 with Paul Knight 9sec behind while his Metro Aberdeen clubmate Craig Thornhill was third in 17:57.

Vicky Cooper (Barking Road Runners) was the leading woman in 21:13 with Hannah Mutch (Aberdeen AAC) second in 21:23, 6sec ahead of Erin Rendall (Metro Aberdeen).

• Martin Reid (JS Kintore) finished well ahead of the field in the Ellon parkrun 5km when clocking 18:16. Kevin Stephen (Garioch Road Runners) was second in 19:29, 15sec ahead of Stuart Sleigh.

Melia Slattery (Aberdeen AAC) was the fastest woman in 21:44, followed by Christine Appel (Garioch Road Runners) in 22:11 and Emily Jamieson in 22:19.
