Dan Skelton celebrated a century of winners for the third season running after Destrier demonstrated the best of his battling abilities in the Burton Overy Novices’ Hurdle at Leicester.

Having failed to feature on his racecourse debut in a bumper at Kempton in March, the fouryear-old ensured the Alcester handler moved to the milestone figure with a tenacious lengthand-a-half success on his hurdling bow. Skelton said: “That is brilliant. We had a great summer and the hundred has come up quick. We almost didn’t see it coming. It was great to do it with a nice progressive horse as well.”
