Campaign hits £1m mark
Exclusive: Sue Ryder Dee View Court appeal at milestone in five months
A campaign to create better neurological care for people in the north-east has hit the £1million milestone in just five months.
Sue Ryder Dee View Court in Kincorth is Scotland’s only purpose-built specialist neurological centre, providing care for people with life-changing conditions such as motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis and brain injuries.
Earlier this year, the charity launched a £3.9million fundraising campaign, backed by the Press and Journal, to build a new wing and cater for an additional 20 residents.
Today it can be revealed that kind-hearted supporters across the north-east have helped hit the £1million mark.
Valerie Watts, Dee View Court centre director, said: “We are massively encouraged by this £1million fundraising milestone and we want to thank all our donors, who helped us reach this.
“It’s crucial we get the new extension built, because Sue Ryder Dee View Court has played a key role in the delivery of expert and compassionate long-term

care for people living with complex care and support needs for over 13 years. We currently provide facilities for up to 24 residents. But, following the expansion, we will be able to offer room for up to 43 people.”
The organisation praised hundreds of fundraisers and was particularly grateful to the Garfield Weston Foundation, which has donated £300,000.
