Ar­rest fol­lows al­leged mur­der at­tempt

A 28-year-old man has been charged in re­la­tion to an al­leged at­tempted mur­der in the High Street area of Stone­haven on Wed­nes­day evening.

He is ex­pected to ap­pear from cus­tody at Aberdeen Sher­iff Court to­day.

A 21-year-old man was taken to Aberdeen Royal In­fir­mary at around 7pm on Thurs­day where he con­tin­ues to be treated for se­ri­ous in­juries.

De­tec­tive In­spec­tor Ste­wart Drum­mond said yes­ter­day: “This has been a con­tained in­ci­dent and I would like to thank mem­bers of the pub­lic for their co­op­er­a­tion and pa­tience while en­quiries

were pro­gressed in the area.

“We would ap­peal to any­one who wit­nessed the in­ci­dent or was in the High Street area around 7pm last night to come for­ward by call­ing po­lice on 101.”

Cor­dons were erected at the junc­tion with Bog­well Lane and near the Cool Gourmet tea­room as spe­cial­ist of­fi­cers ar­rived in the town on Thurs­day.

Scenes-of-crime of­fi­cers wear­ing white body suits showed a spe­cial in­ter­est in one door­way on the High Street and the pave­ment around it.

Of­fi­cers scoured the road for ev­i­dence and pho­tographed var­i­ous parts of the street.
