Airport run is off to a flyer
Three hundred runners have signed up to a unique event at Aberdeen International Airport.
On Saturday June 30 participants will complete two lengths of a lit runway, totalling 3.5km.
The Runway Run kicks off at midnight and money raised from the event will go directly to the charities Befriend a Child, Sue Ryder and Veterans with Dogs.
Each runner signed up for the race has committed to raising a minimum of £100 for good causes.
The fundraisers can take part in the event as a solo contestant, or run a total marathon distance as part of a 12-person relay team.
The current marathon distance Runway Run record to beat is 3:04:31, set by a team at London Heathrow.
Fastest runners and top fundraisers will receive prizes including a helicopter tour of Aberdeenshire, a night in a luxury hotel and VIP Lounge access for a year at the airport.
Carol Benzie, managing director of Aberdeen International Airport said: “We are very excited to host the Runway Run here at the airport in collaboration with CHC Helicopter.
“Three very worthwhile charities will benefit.”
